RIP MY LIL LULU

May 19, 2002 - February 25, 2009
You came to CBRR with a list of medical issues, some of them easy to fix and some not so easy to fix. I got you medicated and clean within a few days and you were on the superficial mend. But those ears! I have never seen such infected and swollen ears in my life, your ears were sealed shut and oozing pus and yet they never seemed to bother you or hinder your shining personality. You took everything in stride and allowed me to do what needed to be done, I spent 7 months trying everything we could to fix your ears with no luck and was faced with a decision to surgically fix your ears or not. The pro's out-weighed the con's and you were finally going to be pain free as I thought it best for your over-all health and future well being to have ear ablations done, little did I know.
You brought so much joy to my life and made me smile more than you will ever know, your non-stop butt wiggles, your love of good food, the way you carried your sherpa tug around so you could suck on it and nap, and let's not forget the way you snored like an industrial wood chipper (something I will truly miss). I nick named you Turbo because you never did anything fast, everything was at your speed and you didn't care. You loved going to the store (work) every day and soaking up all the love and attention you got from the customers and you shined for everyone who paid attention to you (which was everyone) as you were just irresistible to anyone that layed eyes on you, you touched many lives.
I am so very sorry that you died at something I was doing to make your life better, it just isn't fair. I know that your last 7 months here with me were your best and I am privileged to have had you in my life, while you may be gone you will never be forgotten lil one, you will soon be back at home with me here to rest in peace, comfort and style which is what you deserve.

Run Turbo Run to the Rainbow Bridge! You take care and I will see you again some day.

Love you always,
Kodie

POST SURGERY UPDATE

What a long day it was and my nerves are just shot!
Our Lil Lulu made it through surgery with no complications, however her entire ear canals have been removed from both ears and she will be totally deaf, but her ears were so bad to begin with that the the specialist was 98% sure she could not hear anyway so nothing was really lost in her case. She did have trouble coming out of the anesthesia and staying awake due to the length of time being under and started to have some breathing issues so our Lil Lulu was transported to the ER hospital where she will spend the night for monitoring and pain management. She will not be able to come home til I am confident that she is ok and her pain is controllable by pill form, the last thing I want is for her to be in extreme pain.
This is such a horrific surgery and one we do not just do because of the pain involved but in order for Lil Lulu to be pain free the rest of her life it had to be done as the pro's out-weighed the con's in her situation and even though she is deaf she is an amazing lil girl and deserves a happy and healthy life too.

Please check back to see how Lil Lulu is doing, I will be posting photo's soon, in the mean time please consider donating to her surgery fund as this was a very expensive surgery.

Thanks for sending positive vibes Lulu's way!

LIL LULU NEEDS SURGERY

PLEASE HELP LULU WHO NEEDS SURGERY

After 6 months of medicating and ear cleaning it has been determined that our Lil Lulu needs to have ear ablations that will cost $2500.
Due to years of neglect of constant ear infections, x-rays show that her ear canal cartilage has calcified and has turned into bone that is blocking her canals and bolus thus leaving us no choice but to have the surgery done, it is her only way to get back her ears and be pain free. Lil Lulu is such a great girl and truly worth it, please consider donating to her surgery fund.

ALL IS GOOD

Lil Lulu is doing well.

She has recovered from her spay and eye surgery and is on the prowl for a furever home to call her own.

She does not like to sleep on the sofa or in bed with her humans, she actually prefers a nice comfy dog bed with sides to hold her head up, but really likes to be in the same room with you no matter what. She is not really the cuddling type and does not really care to be held but would really like it best if you just brushed her and scratched her bottom all the time. She is funny in her own way and is learning to play a bit, this girls tail never stops as she is a very happy bullie.

Her ears remain swollen and they will need continued care for a long period of time, they need to be flushed with a special kind of ear solution and ears meds every other day, over time with care and a proper diet her ears will get better and so will her hearing.

Please let me know if you think you have the perfect home for this girl.

LIL LULU UPDATE

Hi everyone,
Lil Lulu is doing well, she just got spayed and had a mass removed from her eyelid a few days ago and so she has been recovering.
Her ears are still very swollen but I now have an opening to be able to get meds in her canals, and the infection is starting to clear up, her ears may always be swollen and will need daily care and meds.
She is a good girl and gets along well with other dogs as long as there is not food around, she can be food aggressive and for this reason she will not be placed in a home with toddlers.
She likes to have human company around so someone that is home all day would be best for her, she likes to hang out where ever you are and just lounge around and get her butt scratched. She is potty trained and is not fond of a crate at all but does not mind an xpen if need be for a few hours.
She loves to go for car rides and short lil walks up the street but she is not a very active girl.

Please check back to see when this lil girl will be available for her next adventure.

Welcome LuLu

PLEASE WELCOME LIL' LOU
My family took me to the shelter where they were just going to drop me off like a piece of trash and run,  but luckily someone there knew to call CBRR and I was intercepted and did not have to sit in that scary place for a second.

I (and about 200 of my closest friends they called fleas!) was taken straight to the vet where I had to have 2 flea baths and a round of Frontline before ditching all those extra passengers.  Then I was able to see the nice vet Dr Utsey, she say's both of my ears are so swollen shut and have pus oozing out of them and that is probably why I can not hear very well right now, let's not forget how very painful they are too.  I also have a mass on my eyelid and a interdigital cyst between my toes that will need to be surgically removed, I was advised that they can do this during a my spay *Ugh*  My tail also hurt really bad as it was raw, I guess from all those lil things that were biting me and making me scratch my bum all the tim e, I have since stopped spinning and scratching at my tail now that I have some antibiotics for that area and my mum put some goop on it, it feels much better now *ahhhhh relief at last*

Mum says I am a wonderrrrrful baby, I am very nice, loving, get along well with others, and even in the amout of pain I am in will let you do anything to me with no problems.  I am quiet, like to follow her everywhere and sleep on her feet (although mum moves around too much for me to do this a lot) so I just find a nice spot on the floor and take a nap for a bit.

I am eating well, and the food is just marvelous here at Kodie's Bullie Bed & Breakfast, I have to pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming.  It appears I will be here for a bit getting better and having some procedures done so please check back and see how I am doing.
